Lucy Day Appointed As Executive Director
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Lucy Day as the new Executive Director of Phoenix Art Space.
“Since joining the organisation in January 2022 in an interim role I have thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in the dynamic hub that is Phoenix. Alongside the creativity that we see and recognise, curiosity, generosity, compassion and ingenuity are fully embedded within its walls. Through the studio members who form the heart of our building, our flourishing public programme of exhibitions and events, and the innovative and supportive work that we develop in partnerships with our community, Phoenix enjoys an enviable reputation as a visionary space in Brighton and the South East. Together with our fantastic team, Board and studio members I look forward to leading Phoenix through an exciting new chapter.” – Lucy Day
“We are delighted that Lucy Day has taken the post of Executive Director on a permanent basis. We have met many people whilst interviewing for this post and Lucy has been the one that consistently fills us with confidence and delight. She has been a steady trusted hand who has guided us through difficult times and will continue to keep the rudder sturdy throughout the challenges that face us in the future. We have a challenging road ahead of us, the landscape of the arts and our economy is constantly shifting and making it harder and harder for us to create sustainably. Lucy has proven over the past year that her strategic thinking, positive attitude, and compassionate leadership will keep us moving forward. Phoenix is a very special place, filled with creativity, determination, and passion, we feel that Lucy is the right person to protect, grow and honour what Phoenix Stands for. A huge, permanent, Welcome Lucy!” – Siân Prime and Beth Burgess, Co-Chairs
