Creating a space for
Phoenix is a unique Art Space, located in the centre of Brighton. We were established as a charity in 1995. A thriving and dynamic Space, Phoenix provides and maintains a range of creative opportunities in the heart of the City, including:
- 100 affordable artists’ studios
- two public galleries
- around 15 free exhibitions per year
We feature around 150 artists, including those who have a studio at Phoenix, and others living and working in the wider City and region.
Alongside our exhibition programme, we put on a range of regular community events which are open to everyone. These include:
- talks and presentations from artists & arts organisations
- family fun days
- short courses, one-day events & drop-in workshops.
Join a unique
community of art lovers
Phoenix Friends will discover more about the contemporary art world through direct contact with studio artists and their work. Our diverse, year-round programme of Friends events offers glimpses behind-the-scenes with fascinating insights into creative processes and opportunities to meet talented studio artists based at Phoenix. You will also be supporting Phoenix Art Space’s important work in promoting creativity throughout the region.
Our community engagement programme is active, lively and growing all the time.
We have a strong and active commitment to our community and we are always interested to hear about new ideas, or ways we can collaborate with others to develop projects and opportunities.
We work in partnership with individuals and organisations across the city on new ideas and projects, which we can extend and expand to widen the scope, and increase opportunities for everyone involved.
Want to get involved? If you would like to find out more, or have ideas for possible future projects, we would love to hear from you, contact Chloe Hoare our learning and community engagement manager firstname.lastname@example.org
Free studios for graduates
Every year we provide free studio space for two graduate students in partnership with Cass Art and the University of Brighton. For further information, contact our Studio Manager Vivienne Ridley at Vivienne@phoenixbrighton.org
