We have selected three very different studios for your tour, to give an interesting flavour of professional contemporary arts practice.
Joseph Young is an artist working in sound, performance and installation, based in Brighton and Berlin. A specialist in binaural field recording techniques, he has exhibited and performed at Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Towner Art Gallery, Jerwood Hastings, Pallant House, V&A, Estorick Collection, De La Warr Pavilion, Errant Sound Berlin, Seoul Museum of Art and on Wall Street, USA.
Luella Martin is a printmaker. Luella’s work explores landscapes and skylines, usually in the Sussex countryside and coastal areas using the mediums of solar etching and oil painting. These images come from observing and visiting the same places many times.
The Ceramics Collective share a studio in the basement of Phoenix. Alice Stewardson, Emma Johnson and Paul Morley met during their degree at the University of Brighton. Each of them has their own very distinct approach to ceramics but enjoy the support of working in a group space. They have offered to give a hands on demonstration of pottery techniques.
