Sue MacLaine is a writer and director. Her company, with producer Jane McMorow, creates contemporary performance works that are political, personal and poetic. Her work is visually arresting and has been performed in theatres and visual arts spaces. She is particularly interested in and inspired by semantics, silence and stillness. Having been awarded a full scholarship from the University of Essex she is currently embarking on a three-year practice-as-research PhD in Theatre Studies focusing on ideas of ‘composure’ within female-authored autobiographical performance.
Michelle Cobbin is an abstract painter. She studied Visual Culture and Fine Art at the University of Brighton. In her work and wider life as a yogi, she is drawn to qualities of stillness, harmony and quietness. Creative outcomes need to satisfy her desire for these qualities without losing impact or energy. She divides her work into series – some bright and joyous, others dark and contemplative. Recent subjects include nostalgia for place, belonging and alienation. Her work is shown regularly in London and Sussex galleries.
