SPOTLIGHT is the regular series in which Phoenix artists showcase their work and artistic practice. Join us for an evening of creative discussion, stimulating insights and a glass of wine.
Lucy Brown works with a mixed palette of old, unwanted second hand clothing, hair and domestic related textile items. These are used as raw materials to make visceral woven installation, anti-form sculpture, site-specific interventions and objects for public exhibitions and projects. Her work often departs from personal or collective experiences and explores themes around the body, dress, femaleness, textile and social histories, nostalgic and craft labour.
Tom Heatley's work combines photographs and objects in sculptures and installations which seek to popose questions about aspects of society. Through a parallel process of research and making, past projects have explored: the sculpture department at the University of Brighton; the practice of DIY in the home; and currently, our recent relationship with politics in the UK.
Join us for discussion, insights and a drink from 6pm.
