You can now take part in a creative course outdoors whilst maintaining social distancing. This Drawing on Location course with Rachel Cohen has been part of the Phoenix Art Space Learning Programme for a number of years, now it offers a fantastic opportunity for students to continue to learn whilst our building is closed. Preston Park has been chosen for the location of this course because it is very spacious and there are a rich variety of subjects to draw from.
Suitable for all levels.
Drawing from observation is central to Rachel’s artistic practice and she will introduce you to this way of working. Rachel will begin the session with exercises in looking and drawing, she will also show examples and give some drawing guidance. The exercises will help you to explore different materials and elements such as line, tone, colour, texture, composition and detail. Once you feel comfortable you will be asked to choose your subject and begin drawing. Rachel will check in with everyone on an individual basis giving guidance and feedback. You will then share your work with the group (not compulsory) and talk about how you got on. These sessions are fun, relaxed and sociable. You will be expected to sit a safe distance from each other but you will still be able to enjoy learning as a group.
Dates: Saturday 27 June, Saturday 4 July, Saturday 18 July and Saturday 25 July
Friday 31 July and Friday 7 August
Number of sessions: 6
Times: 10am – 1pm
Maximum attendees: 5 (due to current government guidelines, this may increase as lockdown measures are eased)
Ticket price: £20 for each session
