Persian Tiles

Monir Amir
£35

Over two mornings you will have the opportunity to learn about making tiles and the principles of the Persian style. You will design and decorate a simple white tile using Persian methods and different coloured glazes. This is a fun course that will give you the chance to try out something new and take home your own Persian tile!

All levels including beginners are welcome.

Please note: your work will be fired after the course finishes and will be available for you to come and collect at a later date.

White Room, Phoenix Art Space

All tools and materials will be provided but please bring the following: an apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Monir Amir: I am originally from Persia (Iran), where I worked in Mashhad’s Cultural Heritage organization for over six years alongside running pottery and ceramics groups. When I moved to England in 2010, I trained to become a primary school teacher and started working in a school. But soon began to miss my passion of pottery so left the school to set up Beauty of Clay social enterprise and run workshops. I believe working with clay can have a therapeutic effect with lots of amazing benefits. I’m hoping to provide exposure to, and understanding of, Persian design principles. And through this to encourage and teach people to develop a sensitivity and understanding of the medium, and express this in their own creations.
