Drawing & Painting the Clothed Figure
You will be encouraged to work in a medium of your choice and explore the richness of colour, texture and form when depicting the clothed life model.
We will study the shapes and rhythms created by the costume folds and how different fabrics behave differently. We will look at the seven major folds as well as approaches for using drapery to described the form beneath.
This course is for anyone who wants to draw or paint drapery from observation. Previous experience of life drawing is advised.
Some paper and a limited range of basic materials e.g. pencils, graphite and ink will be provided to enable you to try out new media. However, you will be expected to bring your own specific choice of materials such as inks, watercolours, acrylics, pastels and oils.
Carolyn has a BA Hons in Fine Art and MA in painting from Central Saint Martins School of Art. Carolyn has a broad experience in the teaching of art and design across both HE and FE sectors including ten years at Chelsea College of Art. Carolyn has exhibited in a number of galleries in both group and solo shows.
