Cut & Paste: Online Collage Course (Intermediate)
Deborah Manson is delighted to be able to offer this new online intermediate collage course for those with some previous experience of collage or general art and design. Over six weeks you will build upon your previous knowledge through a series of short projects. You will be encouraged to look at artists and their ideas as inspiration for your own collage outcomes and to develop your own approach to collage based on your interests. The focus will be on playful experimentation encouraging you to explore the medium further, developing ideas and working in new ways. There will be a mixture of guided exercises and independent project work.
Share your ideas, gain support from the group and develop your own style. During the sessions there will be time to experiment, play with materials and get feedback as you go along. Outcomes could include books, collaborative collages via mail or online exhibition.
Suitable for those who have completed Deborah’s Cut & Paste: Online Collage Course for beginners or have some previous experience of art and design (not necessarily in collage).
The course will be delivered over Zoom, Padlet and Whatsapp. Deborah will begin and end the session via a group chat on Zoom and provide written information about the session and share pre-recorded video demonstrations on Padlet. Members of the group will be able to post comments, ask questions and send images of their work via Padlet. Deborah will give one to one feedback via Whatsapp. This creates a virtual experience very similar to that of an in-person creative class.
Once signed up, you will be added to the Zoom group chat and Deborah will guide you from there.
Please note: by signing up to the course you are agreeing to share your name and phone number with Phoenix Art Space and this information will be passed on to Deborah, the course tutor. Click here for more information on how we look after personal data.

Deborah is an artist and maker based in East Sussex. Her practice is studio based and incorporates collage, drawing, print and textiles – including growing and processing her own natural dyes. Her aesthetic – lo-fi, handmade, imperfect, incorporating inexpensive paper, re purposed textiles and natural dye – evolves from her interest in age old craft techniques and the cross overs between art and craft. Her work is informed by the belief that artists have a responsibility to make conscious decisions about materials, approaches to making and their impact on the environment. Deborah studied Visual Communication at Central at Central St Martins and went on to work as a designer and teacher. In 2016 she gained her MA in textiles from Chelsea college of art.
