ABOUT

Brighton Photo Fringe (BPF) supports early-career photographers, showcasing new talent and encouraging all kinds of people to enjoy and experiment with photography. Every two years BPF designs and delivers one of the largest photographic festivals of its kind in the UK. Through the BPF’s prominent presence alongside Brighton Photo Biennial’s world-class photography festival, BPF connects early-career artists to international audiences and enables arts professionals to spot emerging talent. In true Fringe spirit, BPF18 is taking art out onto the streets and into unusual and unexpected exhibition spaces. BPF Hubs, guided tours, brochures, website and maps will orient visitors as they explore photography across the city. BPF is open to everyone and everybody’s invited.

Phoenix is proud to host the 8th edition of this much-loved festival. This year Phoenix will once again be a major festival Hub, showing eight of the best photography collectives in the country. These were selected from open submission and the exhibitions showcase new photography in all its forms, from Birmingham to Bulgaria.

The OPEN18 Youg Photographers present Reflections of Us, a project for and by young people, and Phoenix-based Rockets Arts present an evolving photography project curated by artists. Also on display will be a selection of work by artists mentored by BPF sponsor Metro Imaging Ltd, London and images from Lens Culture international awards.

The hub is also the base for BPF’s Emerging Curators programme. The trainee curators will lead a series of guided tours each Saturday in October at 11 am, starting at Phoenix Brighton (10 – 14 Waterloo Pl. across from the Level and St. Peter’s Church, Brighton). Please book a place here.
