Creating Mixed Media Art and Textiles
with Rosalind Davis
Create a unique and individual piece of contemporary textile art and explore mixed media through drawing, painting, print, embroidery and textile techniques. During the workshop students will experiment with a variety of drawing, painting, and mark making techniques using a wide range of materials and surfaces. Through the weekend students will learn to incorporate basic print through the use of image maker (a means of transferring printed media onto fabric) as well as exploring printed fabrics within their work through the use of collage. Students will work alongside a professional artist and designer in developing their skills and will also learn about contemporary art, design and professional practice. Students should bring 8-10 images of landscapes, this could be rural or urban from anywhere in the world. They could hold personal significance or be from secondary visual research. Plus: a selection of fabrics, hand embroidery thread, embroidery hoop and scissors, a selection of hand sewing needles, a range of acrylic paintbrushes.
Additional materials will be provided.
